Les Wielinga
Director General, Transport for NSW
Les will lead the Transport for NSW team, including the six Deputy Directors General and their Divisions, through the development of the NSW Long Term Transport Master Plan. Les is one of NSW's most experienced transport administrators with more than 35 years of experience managing transport issues, strategic planning, infrastructure development, program and project management and administration. He has served as Director General since July 2009. Prior to this Les was the Chief Executive of the Roads and Traffic Authority. Les' management skills were developed in the early years as a Civil Engineer and Project Manager in the NSW Department of Main Roads. He has substantial experience in leading large multidisciplinary teams in areas such as engineering and project management.
Deputy Directors General

Tony Braxton-Smith
Deputy Director General, Customer Experience
Tony leads the team responsible for improving the customer’s overall experience of transport in NSW. His team works to ensure customers’ needs, preferences and opinions drive improvements, strategy and standards in transport planning, policy, investment and services. His focus will be identifying opportunities for innovation, better information and improved products across operator services, customer information, timetabling and ticketing, access and interchanges, feedback handling and facilities.

Carolyn McNally
Deputy Director General, Planning & Programs
Carolyn oversees planning across all transport modes. Her team is responsible for identifying transport needs, producing integrated transport plans including the NSW Long Term Transport Master Plan, developing infrastructure and service solutions and managing Transport for NSW’s overall investment budget.

Tim Reardon
Deputy Director General, Policy & Regulation
Under Tim’s leadership the Policy and Regulation Division drives strategic policy across the transport portfolio. His focus is responding to key safety challenges in roads, maritime and public transport, and ensuring the Government’s regulatory framework supports transport objectives and national reforms that benefit NSW. The Division is the key point of contact for Transport for NSW’s industry stakeholders on policy matters and reform processes.

Chris Lock
Deputy Director General, Transport Projects
Chris’ team is responsible for delivering major infrastructure and fleet asset projects. Transport Projects consolidates the former Transport Construction Authority and the Transport Infrastructure Division to provide a single point of accountability for major projects, including strategic procurement for rolling stock and fleet. This new approach will expand Transport for NSW’s capability for integrated project development and delivery and allows operating agencies to focus on transport service delivery and asset maintenance. The team will focus on delivery planning and creating a ‘centre of excellence’ for expert services that support projects.

Fergus Gammie
Deputy Director General, Transport Services
Fergus’ team is responsible for planning and procuring transport services for NSW from key operating agencies, including RailCorp, State Transit and the new Roads and Maritime Services. He will focus on delivering a seamless transport system by developing and managing performance contracts with these agencies.

Rachel Johnson
Deputy Director General, Freight & Regional Development
Rachel’s team works to integrate freight strategies and programs to meet needs of the NSW economy, in particular regional economies, while supporting prosperity and national productivity. The Freight & Regional Development Division will be the central point of co-ordination for freight transport, distribution and servicing. It consolidates key freight systems and their components including road, rail, marine, ports and intermodal terminals.
The other critical agency involved in the development of the Long Term Transport Master Plan will be NSW Roads and Maritime Services. Leading this agency is Chief Executive Peter Duncan.
